"Theatre of the wild"

The Joint mass of Tsavo West and Tsavo East National Parks forms one of the largest National parks in the world and covers an estimated area of 4% of Kenya’s total land area. Tsavo East the larger is the largest of the two, equidistant between Nairobi and Mombasa, and offers a vast and untapped arena of arid bush which is washed by azure and emerald meandering of Galana River. Guarded by the limitless lava reaches of Yatta plateau and also the largest heard of elephants.

ACCESS:

Acceess from Nairobi is through Mtoito Andei on the Nairobi Mombasa road. Nairobi-Mtito From Mombasa you go through Voi.

MAJOR ATTRACTIONS:

  • Elephant in Eden - The sight of dust-red elephant wallowing, rolling and spraying each with red soil
  • Aruba Dam – this is where most animals come to drink thus a lot of game takes place here.
  • Mudanda Rock - This whale –backed Rock towers above a natural dam, and draws a lot of elephants
  • The longest lava flow in the world- 300 kilometers in length. The Lava also attract migrating birds from all over the world
  • Lugards Falls - Named after Captain Lugard, the first proconsul to East Africa, .The rocks allow water from Galana river to sip in forming pools infested by crocodiles.

WILDLIFE:

The Park is home–red elephant, leopard, pods of hippo, crocodile, Rhino, buffalo, lion, waterbucks, Lesser Kudu, Gerenuk and Hirola

BIRDS:

Over 500 bird species have been recorded.

There are several lodges and camping sites in the park.
